Narcissus genus Lycoris radiata family
Narcissus are native to the Mediterranean area. Narcissus were selectively bred in the UK and came to Japan via China. In 1993, the third year after the park’s opening, narcissus bulbs specially suited to the park’s sandy soils were planted. The initial 100,000 plants were increaed each year until Hitachi Seaside Park came to feature the most narcissus plants and varieties in Japan.
